Working to Save Equines from Slaughter
The Pegasus Sanctuary was set up over 15 years ago by Felicity Taylor at her home in rural Normandy, France. With the aim to save equines from the abattoir. In November 2020, there were some 50 horses, ponies and donkeys at the Sanctuary, all have been saved from the abattoir and are now looking for their forever home.

Pegasus Sanctuary saves and rehomes equines destined for the slaughter and works to raise awareness of the scale of the equine meat trade.
Equines Looking for their Forever Homes
Poppy is an unbacked 11 year old Ardennes x mare. She needs an experienced home to bring her gently on as she has been badly treated in the past. She can be timid, but warms up to you once she knows you and loves a good bottom scratch. Poppy stands at 13.2h and is a good doer.
Marianne is 6 years old and her son, Robin, is 3 months old.
They are part of the group of 10 donkeys rescued in October.
We believe that Ginette is Marianne's older baby, so it would be wonderful if they could be rehomed together.
Ginette is just over a year old, and is part of the group of 10 donkeys rescued in October.
We believe that her mum is Marianne, so it would be wonderful if she could be rehomed with her and Robin.
Marco is 18 months old.
He is part of the group of 10 donkeys rescued in October.
Manon is 19 years old and is a very sweet and friendly donkey. She arrived with a horse companion who has since been rehomed. She is a bit lost at the Sanctuary and has yet to bond with any of the other residents. She would be ideally suited as a companion to another gentle donkey.
Little Renaud is 10 years old.
He likes being with the donkey herd, but can get bullied by the more dominant donkeys, so would be ideally suited for a home with other non-dominant donkeys.
Kistin is a 19 year old mare. She is bonded with Nana, so they must be rehomed together.

Nana is a 21 year old Welsh Section A pony. She is bonded with Kistin so they must be rehomed together.
Emeraude is a 29 year old Cob Normand mare. She is one of the Sanctuary's permanent residents.
Indie is a 25 year old French Trotter mare who is looking for a retirement home. She is bonded with Fee, so they must remain together.
Fee is a 28 year old Trotter Francais who is looking for a retirement home. She is bonded with Indie, so they must remain together.
